Art Rock Show – Nemesis (Week 40)

Cairo is de band van Rob Cottingham (toetsen en zang). Hij is met name bekend van de band Touchstone. Een andere troef is ongerwijfeld zangeres Rachel Hill. Hun vocalen passen goed bij elkaar.

Jacco Stijkel van Prog Wereld: “Nemesis begint heel overtuigend met Asleep at the Wheel. Het begin is behoorlijk stevig en ruig, waarna we met een mooie overgang op moderne neo-prog worden getrakteerd. Weer een fijne overgang brengt de luisteraar naar een rustig gedeelte, waarna Cairo de muziek weer opbouwt naar de dreigende hardheid van het begin. Heel mooi hoe de band dit nummer sluitend maakt. En precies op het juiste moment stopt.

Het tweede nummer is Trip Wire. Weer lekker ruig. Ook door de zang doet het nummer mij denken aan bands als Transvision Vamp en Garbage, maar dan met overduidelijke (neo-)proginvloeden.… Read more...
