Art Rock Show – Messages From Afar: Second Nature (Week 05)

Karfagen is het geesteskind van de veelzijdige muzikant en componist Antony Kalugin. De naam werd voor het eerst gebruikt in 1997, toen Antony op school een band vormde. Terwijl hij een jaar later aan de architectuuruniversiteit studeerde, begon hij de eerste Karfagen-composities op te nemen in een van de plaatselijke studio’s.

Fred Nieuwesteeg van Prog Wereld: “Meteen met de eerste klanken van Ride Your Dream zuigt Kalugin de luisteraar zijn fantasiewereld in. Het is erg dromerig en sprookjesachtig allemaal en de wat zalvende stem van Kalugin draagt hieraan bij. Uitbundig bespeelt hij zijn toetsenarsenaal en het is slechts een kwestie van tijd voordat de eerste gitaarsolo zich aandient.
