UNSUNG review: “For this second Lard Free album, Gilbert Artman – here playing drums, percussion, vibes, Hammond organ, piano, tenor sax and CNDP [?] – put together an entirely new group behind him and leapt into moody deep inner-space territory informed in part by Terry Riley and Heldon, though leaping a few shades beyond. Some of the elements of the debut were still present, but the whole was smoother texturally, and more experimentally sophisticated. Art Rock Show – Mannequin (Week 15)

Kyros, in 2014 begonnen als Synaesthesia, kunnen we rekenen tot de lichting moderne crossover progbands die de wereld rijk is.

Hans Ravensbergen van Prog Wereld: “Hun mix van catchy synthesizerpop en stevige neo-progrock is een bijzondere luisterervaring en doet denken aan Propaganda, The Art Of Noise, Pure Reason Revolution en Frost*. Kyros brengt als het ware de synthpop uit de jaren tachtig en begin jaren negentig naar ons huidige decennium. (…)

“Mannequin” is een 55 minuten durende energievreter die bruist en stuitert, maar je ook blij maakt. Op de korte, lieflijke opener Taste The Day is daar niet veel van te merken. Het is stilte voor de storm, die opsteekt in het instrumentale Showtime. Een Kyros kenmerkend nummer dat een opbeurende werking heeft op elk chagrijn.… Read more...
