Art Rock Show – Masters of Illusion (Week 36)

Masters Of Illusion is de titel van het negende studio-album van de sympathieke progrockers uit Wales. De stijgende lijn die de albums van het gezelschap de afgelopen jaren heeft gekenmerkt, opnieuw is doorgezet.

Alex Driessen van Prog Wereld: “Want er is veel te genieten op het nieuwe album van Magenta. Toetsenist/componist/producer Rob Reed had het al eerder aangekondigd: hij had weer eens ouderwets zin in een echt prog-album met alle toeters en bellen die je je daarbij voor kunt stellen. Zoals lange, uitgesponnen nummers met veel pathos, drama, tempo- en stemmingswisselingen. Met veel ruimte voor toetsen, gitaar en (meerstemmige) zang. Kortom, alles wat prog zo interessant en aantrekkelijk maakt. En dat is goed gelukt, kan ik u vertellen. (…)

Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Wednesday, 2 September. Dan’s pick of the week: Moody Blues (Every Good Boy Deserves Favour), Affinity (Affinity), Paul McCartney (Ram), Aardvark (Aardvark) & Majority One (Rainbow Rockin Chair).

Moody Blues is een Britse band die in de jaren zestig enkele grote hits had met nummers als Go Now!, Nights in White Satin (meermaals), Tuesday Afternoon en Ride My See-Saw. Ook later scoorden ze nog enkele hits.
