Yes is een Engelse progressieve rockband , opgericht in Londen in 1968 door zanger Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, gitarist Peter Banks, toetsenist Tony Kaye en drummer Bill Bruford. De band heeft in de loop van de geschiedenis talloze bezettingswisselingen ondergaan. Kenmerkend voor de muziek zijn de complexe ritmes en harmonieën, de virtuositeit van de muzikanten, de meerstemmige zang en de mystieke teksten.

Art Rock Show – Strings from the Edge of Sound (Week 03)

Karmamoi is een Italiaanse band die in 2008 werd opgericht door Daniele Giovannoni (drums) en Serena Ciacci (zang). In 2009 brachten ze een single uit en gingen ze live spelen in Italië. Vorig jaar brachten ze een nieuwe plaat uit. Een juweeltje als het mij vraagt…

Fred Nieuwesteeg van Prog Wereld: “String from the Edge of Sound is de zesde cd van de in 2008 door drummer Daniele Giovannoni opgerichte formatie en het is een beetje een wonderlijke. Vier nieuwe nummers prijken erop, waarvan er eentje twee minuten duurt, met in totaal dik twintig minuten muziek. Daarnaast vijf bestaande nummers die een orkestrale upgrade hebben gekregen. Een mix van een nieuwe cd en een opgepimpte compilatie, zoiets.

Om met de laatste te beginnen, de toegevoegde violen en andere orkestinstrumenten passen prima bij de vaak wat naargeestige sfeer die de muziek van Karmamoi kenmerkt.… Read more...
