Art Rock Show – 5th Season (Week 43)

De Finse band 5th Season is in elk geval duidelijk over wat zij willen met hun muziek: een eerbetoon brengen aan de grootheden van de prog uit de jaren zeventig. Pink Floyd als het grote voorbeeld.

Jacco Stijkel van Prog Wereld: “De kern van 5th Season bestaat uit bassist en songwriter Mikko Löytty en gitarist en producer Tapio Ylinen. Beide mannen hebben hun sporen verdiend in de Finse rockscene. Ylinen speelt bovendien in de Pink Floyd tribute-act PULSE. Dat we te maken hebben met gelouterde muzikanten is zeker aan de muziek van hun debuut te horen.

Het album begint met In Memoriam… Dit is een instrumentaal nummer van ruim tien minuten. Ik vind dit direct een van de betere nummers. Dat komt omdat het mooi is opgebouwd, de muziek wordt gekenmerkt door fijne wendingen én het gitaarspel van Ylinen.… Read more...
