Art Rock Show – Sleepmakeswaves – It’s Here, But I Have No Names For It (Week 42)

Sleepmakeswaves is een Australische postrockband die in december 2006 werd opgericht in Sydney. De groep bestaat momenteel uit gitarist Otto Wicks-Green, drummer Tim Adderley en bassist/toetsenist Alex Wilson. Tot nu toe hebben ze vier volledige studioalbums uitgebracht. De band heeft internationaal veel succes geboekt met hun energieke liveoptredens en moderne benadering van het postrockgenre.

Wall of Sound review: “Every track on this album is a meticulously crafted work of art, from bombastic, barnstorming opener ‘All Hail Skull’, through to ‘This Close Forever’, which is sweetly dreamy and wistful for half its length before opening out and rocking TF out, and closing proceedings in climactic style.

Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Wednesday April 17th. Dan’s pick of the week: Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin II), The Jimi Hendrix Experience (Are You Experienced), Cream (Disraeli Gears), Uriah Heep (Look at Yourself) & Colosseum (Colosseum Live).

Led Zeppelin is een voormalige Engelse rockband opgericht in 1968 door gitarist Jimmy Page, nadat hij als enige lid van The Yardbirds was overgebleven. Naast Page bestond Led Zeppelin uit Robert Plant (zang), John Paul Jones (bas en toetsen) en John Bonham (drums).
